Aidan Bustillo Position: President & Distance Training Chair Year: Senior Major: Secondary Math Education Minor: Psychology Hometown: Brighton, MI High School: Brighton High School Favorite Event/Distance: 5K/10 miles
What brought you to MSURC? I wanted to meet new people my freshman year and to continue running competitively after high school! What are your favorite things about the Club? Being on the club is a great way to meet new people, no matter what kind of runner you are. I love the community and the pure fun of being around so many people who love this sport. Everyone on the club is at a different place with their running and our members include both weekend warriors and wannabe walk-ons, which I think is really cool because you meet a ton of different people! Anything else you'd like everyone to know? Stoked to be club president this year and return as the distance training chair. If you have any questions about the club or aren't sure if it's the right fit for you, let's talk! Reach out anytime, I'd love to chat! CLUB OR DIE!
Chris Conkling Position: Vice President of Operations Year: Senior Major: Environmental Engineering Minor: Energy & Environment Sustainability Hometown: Rochester, MI High School: Rochester Adams High School Favorite Event/Distance: Half Marathon and 8K
What brought you to MSURC? Freshman year I wanted to continue having a group to run with and meet new people. What are your favorite things about the Club? My favorite things about the club are the travel meets and playing ultimate frisbee. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? A few facts about me are that I love to backpack/hike, methodically rate movies and I have a severe LaCroix addition (seriously I need an intervention). For all the new members out there, my greatest piece of advice is to talk to as many people as you can, a lot of people are also looking for friends so do not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. Cade Cunningham deserved to be rookie of the year, far better than Ayo.
Jake Lyskawa Position:Vice President of Administration Year: Senior Major: Journalism Minor: Sports Journalism, Film Studies, & Graphic Design Hometown:Pleasant Ridge, MI High school:Berkley High School Favorite Event/Distance: 5K & 1600m Run
What brought you to MSURC? As a runner in high school, I came into college looking for a way to keep up with the sport. One of my friends in high school told me about the club because his sister was in it, so I showed up the first day and haven't looked back. What are your favorite things about the Club? I really enjoy traveling with everyone, especially to the regional and national meets. Staying in a hotel is always fun and it's a great way to get closer with everyone in the club. The people are what makes MSURC so incredible, and it's always great hanging out with everyone at practice and outside of running, too. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? Hey everyone! I can't wait to serve as the Vice President of Administration for the 2022-23 school year. I've had such a great time on the club these past three years, and I know the best times are yet to come. Personally, I'm a huge sports fan (especially basketball), and I also love listening to and playing music, reading, and watching movies. Looking forward to meeting you all, club or die!
Sam Siminski Position: Treasurer Year: Junior Major: Political Science Minor: Spanish Hometown: Grand Rapids, MI High School: Forest Hills Northern High School Favorite Event/Distance: 5K What brought you to MSURC? I wanted to continue to run in college, and I am not fast enough for the MSU Cross Country team, no matter what my dad might tell you. In addition to that, I felt that the Running Club would be a great place to meet people, share some laughs, make some memories, and og on runs from time to time. What are your favorite things about the Club? My favorite things about the club are the memories that we make throughout the season, particularly during travel meets! The road trips, the meals, the hotel stays, and the races themselves are a level of fun that I hope everyone gets to experience! Also, I love to wear my Running Club merch around campus and pretend I'm a serious athlete. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? I am super excited to be your Treasurer for the '22-'23 year, and I look forward to meeting each and every new member of the club! Please reach out, I'd love to chat! Go Green! Club or Die!
Eric Berg Position: Apparel Coordinator Year: Sophomore Major:Actuarial Science Hometown: Shelby Township, MI High School: Utica Academy for International Studies Favorite Event/Distance: Marathon
What brought you to MSURC? A group of great people, who love running brought me to this club. What are your favorite things about the Club? I love the conversations that happen during runs. The endorphins are flowing freely, which allows for some of the best conversations. In a way, the runner's high is also a philosophical enlightenment. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? I have not laughed harder any other time in my life than when I was with club teammates. If you want a good laugh, this club will provide.
Alyssa Kanclerz Position: Social Coordinator Year: Senior Major:Kinesiology Hometown:Howell, MI High School: Howell High School Favorite Event/Distance: 5K's - Long Distance Runner
What brought you to MSURC? I ran cross country in high school, and I wanted to continue to stay in shape in college! Coming in as a freshmen I was thrilled to find a running club on campus to keep doing what makes me happy. I also thought after graduating high school I would never race again, but I was so wrong. I also looked forward to meeting new friends and to find people who also think running is fun. The members, the e-board, and the overall environment of the club has kept my spirit alive to keep running and to have a lot of fun! What are your favorite things about the Club? I believe one of my favorite things about the club is the people. I am a huge people person, I love going out and doing fun events/activities with any of the members. I truly believe having the right group of people all together makes a club like ours super fun and exciting to be apart of. Obviously the social events is what brings everyone together outside of running to really get to know one another. Some of my favorite events are hayride, ice cream socials, team dinners, traveling for meets, and all the fun events I have planned for this upcoming school year! Anything else you'd like everyone to know? I am super excited to be the Social Coordinator this year! My hobbies other than running include singing, golfing, and hanging with friends and family. I am currently a CNA at the Willows of East Lansing, and I aspire to become a Nurse Practitioner in my future. For new members or individuals who are interested in joining... I would like to say just go for it! Even if you're not a serious runner, we are at all different levels of running and it could just be a fun way to meet new friends while staying fit. I certainly didn't have the intention of competing ever again after high school, but here I am training for a half marathon! All in all, I hope to see everyone next year to have some fun. Go green!!
Tyler Mussen Position: Travel Coordinator Year: Junior Major:Finance Minor: Economics Hometown:Plymouth, MI High School:Plymouth High School Favorite Event/Distance: 5K
What brought you to MSURC? I wasn't good enough to make the MSU team, but I still wanted a competitive outlet for my running after high school. What are your favorite things about the Club? The sense of community is hands down the best part. Whether you're still trying to compete or just running to stay in shape, there are always people who have the same goals as you. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? The sheep baa'd back this year.... that can only mean one thing.
Bailey Delcamp Position: Fundraising Coordinator Year: Junior Major: Environmental Microbiology Minor:Sustainability Hometown: Okemos, MI High School: Okemos High School Favorite Event/Distance: 800m Dash & 1600m Run
What brought you to MSURC? My own two feet, all the way from the distant land known as East campus. My girls kept me coming, y'all know who you are :) What are your favorite things about the Club? Run club is an amazing way to meet new people while simultaneously doing something good for yourself. The friendships you make here are full of laughs and often go further than the trails. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? Runners are happy people, why surround yourself with anyone else?
Jacob Rutkowski Position: Webmaster Year: Junior Major: Computer Science Minor: Information & Communication Technology & Development Hometown: Plainfield, IL High school: Plainfield North High School Favorite Event/Distance: 10K & 800m Dash
What brought you to MSURC? I captained my high school cross country team and although I didn't want to run in the NCAA in college, I still wanted to be involved with people who I could run with and be a part of a team. What are your favorite things about the Club? The club is honestly such a good group of people. Everyone is fun to be around and going on runs and telling stories and jokes to each other is a blast. Being able to grow closer with people while doing something that we love shows that we are truly building something special here. Anything else you'd like everyone to know? Ayo Dosunmu deserved the 2021-22 NBA Rookie of the Year award. I can't believe the league let him drop to the 38th pick. Club or Die!
Matthew Singer Position: Sprint Training Chair Year: Sophomore Major: Electrical Engineering Hometown: Macomb, MI High school: Dakota High School Favorite Event/Distance: 400m Hurdles What brought you to MSURC? I will run until the day I drop dead, and “CLUB OR DIE” seemed to fit with that need perfectly. What are your favorite things about the Club? You might come for the running but you will stay for the people. MSURC has some of the most dedicated, kind, and funny people I have ever met. I love spending time with them at workouts, team dinners and our dairy store runs (in a perfect world every run would be a dairy store run). Anything else you'd like everyone to know? My biggest piece of advice is to leave nothing for tomorrow. Don’t put off coming to practices and meets because you aren’t as good as you want to be. Don’t create mental hurdles for yourself, come jump over the real ones. (And if you don’t know how I would LOVE to teach you) Other than that I’m so excited to be your sprint training chair and always down to talk or for questions. So if you see me around campus yank my earbuds out and say hi!
